12BET Football Betting for Beginners: 1X2, Asian Handicap and Goal Lines Explained

Most football bets look simple until the draw, a quarter-goal line or a live price change gets in the way. Asian handicap lines like -0.75 in particular confuse almost everyone at first. This guide to 12BET football betting explains the 1X2 market, how handicap and goal lines settle, what changes in-play, and how to convert kick-off times to your own clock, so you know exactly what a bet slip will pay before you place it.

What does a football price at 12BET actually pay?

Every match opens with a three-way 1X2 market: home win, draw, away win. Prices appear as decimal odds, which already include your stake. A typical league fixture might read 2.10 home, 3.40 draw, 3.60 away. Ten units on the home side at 2.10 come back as 21 if they win, a profit of 11.

The draw is what makes 1X2 harder than it looks, because a sizeable share of league games finish level and a draw beats both home and away backers. That is why many players move on to Asian handicap, which removes the draw, and to goal lines, which do not care who wins.

If you grew up on Hong Kong or Malay odds, you will see the same price without the stake, so 2.10 shows as 1.10 in Hong Kong format. Whatever you choose in your settings, keep it fixed so you never misread a slip at kick-off.

How does Asian handicap work, line by line?

Asian handicap gives one team a goal head start or deficit so that the draw disappears as an outcome. The line tells you what has to happen for your side to cover:

  • 0 (level ball): your team must win. A draw refunds your stake.
  • -0.5: a straight win is required; a draw loses.
  • -1: win by two or more and you are paid; win by exactly one and the stake comes back.
  • -0.25 and -0.75 (quarter lines): your stake is split across the two neighbouring lines. At -0.25, a draw loses half. At -0.75, a one-goal win pays half and refunds half.

A worked example: 10 units on Team A -0.75 at 1.95, and Team A win 1-0. Five units sit on -0.5 and win, returning 9.75. The other five sit on -1 and are refunded. You get 14.75 back in total, a profit of 4.75.

Over/under goals: what do 2.5, 2.75 and 3 mean?

Goal lines follow the same split logic as handicaps. Over 2.5 needs three or more goals, with no refund possible. A whole line such as 3 refunds you if exactly three goals are scored. A quarter line such as 2.75 halves your stake between 2.5 and 3.

Example: 10 units on over 2.75 at 1.90, and the match ends 2-1. The half on over 2.5 wins and returns 9.50; the half on over 3 is refunded at 5. Total back: 14.50.

Unless a market says otherwise, our football markets settle on regular time plus stoppage time only, not extra time or penalties.

Pre-match or in-play: how does 12BET football betting change once the ball is rolling?

In-play betting is where most new users lose track of what they actually backed. Keep three differences in mind:

  • Lines move constantly. A goal, a red card or even a long spell of pressure shifts both the handicap and the goal line within seconds.
  • Bets may take a moment to confirm. We hold live bets briefly to check nothing has just happened on the pitch.
  • In-play Asian handicap counts only goals scored after you bet. If you back Team B +0.5 at 1-0 down, the existing goal is ignored for settlement.

Cash out, where we offer it, lets you settle early at the price shown at that moment. It is a tool for limiting exposure, not a way to lock in a profit you have not yet earned.

What time do Premier League and Champions League games kick off where you are?

England switches from summer time (BST) to GMT on 25 October 2026, so Asian kick-off times shift one hour later from that weekend. Based on GMT, a traditional Saturday 3:00 PM Premier League game lands at:

  • 20:30 in India (IST) and 21:00 in Bangladesh
  • 22:00 in Thailand, Vietnam and western Indonesia (GMT+7)
  • 23:00 in Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines and China (GMT+8)

Champions League evening games kick off at 21:00 Central European Time, which is 03:00 the next morning at GMT+7 and 01:30 in India during the winter months. Placing pre-match bets the evening before is easier than staying up for the line to settle.

Three things to check before your first football bet with us

  • Margin. Add the implied chances of both sides of a handicap (1 ÷ price). Two sides at 1.90 give about 105%, meaning a margin of roughly 5%. Knowing this helps you compare lines on different matches.
  • Market depth. Check that the leagues you follow carry handicap and goal lines, not only a 1X2 price. Our main leagues do; smaller competitions may offer fewer markets.
  • The address. Log in from your bookmark, from inside your account, or from an address our support gave you; our guide to confirming official 12BET sites and presenters covers the warning signs.

On the subject of who we are: in 2025 we were shortlisted for Sportsbook Operator of the Year at the SBC Awards 2025, with the ceremony held in Lisbon in September 2025. Being shortlisted is not the same as winning, and that is all we claim. SBC’s judges consider customer experience and innovation alongside growth and brand strength, so we take the shortlist as a review of the sportsbook itself. We have operated since 2007; see what 18 years in the market involves and how our customer service was shortlisted.

FAQ

What does a push mean in Asian handicap betting?

A push means the result landed exactly on the line, so your stake is returned with no win or loss. It only happens on whole-number lines such as 0, -1 or 3 goals.

Does extra time count in football bets?

Usually not. Most of our markets settle on 90 minutes plus stoppage time, and the market rules state any exception.

Can I back a draw with Asian handicap?

Not directly. A level-ball (0) handicap refunds your stake on a draw; to bet on the draw itself, use the 1X2 market.

Is 12BET an SBC Awards 2025 winner?

We were a finalist for Sportsbook Operator of the Year. A shortlist is recognition from the judges, not a trophy.

How do I know I’m on the official 12BET site?

Use the address you registered on, or one our support gave you, and never log in through a link sent by a stranger or in an advert.

Learn one line type at a time and test it with small stakes before moving on. Betting involves risk. Set your limits and only play with money you can afford to lose.
